❗️36 years after Cole Trickle first tore through NASCAR, a Days of Thunder sequel is finally moving forward at Paramount. Tom Cruise is set to return as Cole and will also produce the film alongside original producer Jerry Bruckheimer. Jonathan Levine is currently negotiating to direct, while Without Remorse writer Will Staples has already completed the screenplay. The story remains completely under wraps, so reports about Cole becoming a mentor, team owner or veteran driver returning to the track are still speculation. Filming is tentatively targeting early 2027, although production dates could still change while the director’s deal and remaining cast are finalized. Paramount has not announced an official title, release date, trailer or detailed production schedule yet. No other original actors have been confirmed, meaning Nicole Kidman, Michael Rooker, Cary Elwes and John C. Reilly are not officially attached despite the online rumors and fan-made trailers.
