The third generation of the Mercedes GLA looks finally more SUV and less hatch. It aims to better compete against the popular BMW X1 and Audi Q3. The first two generations were never able to outsell them. The new GLA makes use of the new Mercedes design on its front with more edgy headlights that are connected to the front grille (they remind me of the current Audi Q5’s). It looks similar to the Mercedes C-Class EV. However, the redesign is totally ruined (in my humble opinion) by the rear end. As it happened to the C-Class EV, new GLB, and new AMG GT 4-door, the rear is ugly and not Mercedes-styled at all. It is vulgar and doesn’t respect the elegant and beautiful Mercedes from the past. It was also the case with the first generation GLA. The interior is impressive and full of tech. Does the new GLA improve vs its predecessors in terms of design?
