😬 Ferrari expected its first EV to divide enthusiasts, but even Maranello says it wasn’t prepared for the scale of the backlash, and now the first production Luce has sold for an unbelievable $40 million. Ferrari global marketing director Emanuele Carando said the company expected “a strong reaction, a very polarizing reaction,” but admitted it “didn’t expect such a magnitude.” Much of the criticism has focused on the Luce’s unconventional proportions, minimalist styling and roughly $640,000 price rather than simply the fact that it is electric. Underneath the controversial design is serious hardware, with more than 1,000 cv in boost mode, 0-100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and a roughly 193 mph top speed. Its 122-kWh battery supports up to 350-kW charging, while Ferrari claims more than 329 miles of range. The backlash also hasn’t killed demand, with Reuters reporting Ferrari’s 2026 target of just under 500 Luces was filled in less than two months after launch.
