Certified Pre-Owned isn’t always the great deal it’s made out to be. A lot of times, you can get the price of a brand-new vehicle down to what the CPO is being advertised for, sometimes even lower. Now you’ve got a new vehicle with zero miles and the full factory warranty. Remember, part of that higher CPO price is paying for the added warranty coverage. Unless you’re getting a sizable enough discount on the vehicle to offset that cost, make sure the numbers actually make sense. In many cases, I’d rather find a quality used vehicle at the right price and put that money toward a comprehensive extended service contract that provides broader coverage for a longer period of time. Don’t buy the CPO badge. Compare the total value.
