🎮 Cars: The Video Game was unironically one of the best open-world games a lot of us played growing up. ⠀ Released in 2006 alongside the Pixar movie, the game takes place after the film and lets you freely explore Radiator Springs and the surrounding desert as Lightning McQueen. ⠀ Instead of just jumping between races, you could drive around the map, find missions, interact with familiar characters and discover areas that were expanded specifically for the game. ⠀ Rainbow Studios worked directly with Pixar on the project, adding new characters and locations while building a story around Lightning continuing his pursuit of the Piston Cup. ⠀ For a licensed movie game from the mid-2000s, the combination of open-world driving, racing, minigames and the original movie cast made it surprisingly ambitious. ⠀ Honestly, just cruising around Radiator Springs at night was half the fun. ⠀ Did you play Cars: The Video Game growing up? ⠀ What are your thoughts? 🤔💭 ⠀ ⠀ ( Media: Cars: The Video Games [2006] ) ⠀
