In 1990, Nissan built a twin-turbo V6 sports car that went toe-to-toe with Ferraris and Porsches at a fraction of the price — then watched the world forget about it. The 300ZX Twin Turbo made 300 horsepower, hit 60 in about five seconds, and had Road & Track comparing it to the Ferrari 348. Somewhere between the JDM boom and the Supra’s resurrection, it got quietly buried. Mazda built a four-door, four-seat sports car powered by a spinning triangle that revved to 9,000 RPM without a single turbo. The RX-8 made 232 horsepower, with near-perfect 50/50 weight distribution that out-handled the Porsche Boxster in contemporary tests. It got labelled unreliable and discontinued while a generation of enthusiasts moved on — and clean examples have tripled in value since 2018.
